It's -only- service pack 2 displaying this behavior. I've gone as far as turning off anti-virus, downloading Sp2, extracting it to the E: drive and installing it, all for naught. It's as if I've pressed the cancel button, but I can assure you I'm not. When I try to install service pack 2, it gets to backing up the registry before it self-cancels. It's running the latest McAfee Total Protection anti-virus without the firewall portion. I have a new install of Windows 2003 Standard Edition with all the pre-SP2 critical updates installed. I've been bashing my head into this for a bit now, so now it's time to ask the experts.
